Fear, focus, and the future. Here, C.M. Humphries writes about whatever.
ALL RIGHT.
It's been awhile since I said anything about my first novel Excluded from Wild Child Publishing. Here's the deal. The novel is still on its way. I've been working with editors since this summer, and they are in a bit of a slump right now, with many works on the back-burner. This is because of somewhat unexpected volume and a few works taking much more consideration that others. Good news: Excluded is not one of those books that needs more work than other. I think. However, Excluded is one of the former. Unfortunately, my book sits on the back burner because of two reasons: One, my submission must have fallen at the end of their consideration period; therefore it is one of the last in line. Shorter works and those who submitted and were accepted before me hold a better place in line. Think of it as waiting for a roller-coaster. Two, Wild Child Publishing had a slight security issue recently, and everything has been pushed back until the situation is taking care off. I mean hackers. And to you guys, I say chill, man. Don't hack this kind of stuff. Us writer's have very little to offer monetarily. In other news, though, my fingers are twitching in an anxious fashion for next month. Yes, I know it just turned October, but I cannot wait until November. Well, actually, December's a good month. But you guys aren't allowed to know what that means. Oh yeah, I'm shutting you out. But please still read/buy my works. I love you all. Rant, rant, rant. Moving along, in November I will officially embark on my first National Novel Writing Month. To reiterated, NaNoWriMo is an organization for writers that challenges them to write an entire 50,000-word min. novel in just one month. I am intending on succeeding, so wish me luck. And of course, that means I will have a new novel. And you guys will have more to read, provided someone publishes the story. They will. Someone will. It's the American way, I guess. For my novel, I have been mapping ahead, and I swear this piece is going to be way less gory that Excluded, but just as discomforting. Discomforting in a good way. In addition to planning ahead for NaNoWriMo, I have been observing Chuck Pahlinuik's Invisible Monsters. I plan on using a similar structure in the next novel, but of course, not the exact same one. A lot of writers, whether they know it or not, having similar ideas for story structure. I am just looking at his work to see how keeps a disjointed narrative a little less confusing. With nonlinear stories, you want to reader to go, "Oooh, that was cool" and not "What the hell did I just read?" As always, keep checking back for new publications, Excluded updates, and whatever I think you should know. |
